The Tom Roehl Turkey Bowl was the flagship fundraiser for the initial few years of the Tom Roehl Memorial Scholarship. While the event is still very dear to our hearts, it has been difficult to find time to manage and generate interest for the event. Instead, our foundation has partnered with other organizations to co-host flag football and other recreational activities.

For the past 7 years, on the day after Thanksgiving, there has been a increasing number of Coupeville Alumni and their family digging the old cleats out of the garage and dusting off the old jersey to come out and run around in the Tom Roehl Turkey Bowl.
The event started in 2003, the autumn after Tom Roehl passed away. The first year the event was little more then a group of coaches offering some friendly trash talk to former players. While the initial event did not raise the same amount of money that future Turkey bowls would, it was a great way to celebrate a former coach and friend. In subsequent years, Coupeville Alumni, Family, and Friends have braved the cold and risked serious injury to come out and play football with old teammates and coaches. In 2009, due to insurance issues, the Turkey Bowl, with help from some alum, was moved to Ft Nuggent Field in Oak Harbor. This event is not being coordinated at this time, but a small tournament may pop up in future years under different name(s).
