2014 Tom Roehl Round-Ball Classic
ALL ISLAND ALUMNI TOURNAMENT
This will be the third year of this tournament format and the previous two years the participation has been fantastic. The 2013 tournament was a big success, with Red Pride bringing home the "Trophy" for the third year in a row, can anybody stop them? The 2014 Tom Roehl Round-Ball Classic will be held this year on Saturday, December 27th, from 12pm-6:30pm, at the Coupeville High School Gymnasium.
There will be TWO divisions this year:
The Open Division is for competitive teams vying for some sweet t-shirts and bragging rights for the year.
The Seniors Exhibition for teams comprised of 40+ year old members, looking to play a longer extended game with peers of their same level and have some fun.
Here are the general rules, info about the event and the link to register your team:
1) Participants are asked to register as a team, allowing you to play with your buddies, classmates and former teammates. If you would like to register as an individual, please contact Noah Roehl directly and you will be placed on a roster as close to your graduation year as possible.
2) We would prefer that at least 1/2 of your team roster is players who graduated from one of the Island high schools. If your cousin is in town for the holidays and went to a school somewhere else they are welcome to jump onto your team. We are also not opposed to teams from off Whidbey Island participating if they have a strong connection to the event, foundation or community. In the end, our goal is NOT to see which team can find the most ex-NBA type players to win the tournament. We would like this event to be an opportunity to play with family & friends and see old classmates. If this becomes an issue, team captains will be asked to adjust their rosters, either at the event or for future years.
3) Teams will be placed in a bracket based on the overall age of their players. These brackets will be determined in a way that best splits into even numbered brackets. The seniors division will be based on overall interest and participation. If there are teams that would like to join as one cohesive group we will try to maintain those groups as best as possible.
4) Tournament teams will be guaranteed 3 games, two in a seeding bracket and one in a single elimination tournament. Depending on the number of teams signed up, the seeding round will start at 12:30pm and run until about 2:30pm. with the tournament starting about 30-45 minutes after. Assuming we have enough teams pre-register, we will have a schedule out the week before the event, thus allowing teams to show up closer to their game times. Exhibition participants can choose to play with a tournament team and play in the exhibition game or either one individually. We will accept individual registrations or at the door registrations. 2014 is the first year of the Exhibition format. The game will start between the seeding round games and tournament games, starting about 2:30pm.

5) We anticipate games being 20 minutes running clock, stopping only for free throws in the last 30 seconds (this may change depending on the number of teams that register). Games will be refereed and will follow all National Federation High School rules, if you need a refresher you can find them here.
6) Remember this is a family environment and there will be many kids, parents, and grandparents in the gym. Swearing, violence, or behavior that is uncalled for will not be tolerated and you will be asked to leave, NO EXCEPTIONS!!
We are asking teams in the Open division to make a $125 donation to the Tom Roehl Foundation, which can be done upon completion of online registration. People wishing to play in the exhibition game only can register as an individual on the website or drop in to the gym about 1:30pm and register at the door. All teams must register online, but teams may make their donation at the door on the day of the event. Please contact Noah Roehl directly if this is your chosen donation method.
